Member of Mass Organisation Threatening to Burn Shop in Deli Serdang Arrested
A man acting like a thug who claimed to be from one of the mass organisations, initialled B (26), has finally been arrested. He intended to burn a neighbourhood grocery shop in Deli Serdang because the victim refused to pay an extortion fee under the guise of security money. “The team has secured the perpetrator and brought him to the Sunggal Sectoral Police Station,” said Sunggal Police Chief Kompol Yunus Tarigan, quoted by detikSumut on Tuesday (14/4/2026). The perpetrator was secured this afternoon on Jalan Sei Mencirim, Lalang Village, Sunggal Subdistrict. The perpetrator admitted to asking for a payment for SPSI amounting to Rp 50,000 from the victim’s child. “After the victim arrived, the perpetrator met the victim. However, the victim said ‘there is no SPSI money because the phone here is lost’, so the perpetrator took a bottle containing Pertamax that was in a motorcycle near the scene and splashed it inside the grocery store, then threatened to burn it,” he explained. The incident occurred on Sunday (12/4) around 10:30 WIB. At that time, the perpetrator B demanded payment for five months at once, calculated from April to September. The amount was Rp 250,000. “So, first, he wanted to ask for monthly SPSI money. Then he wanted to take five months at once. From this month 4 (April), Rp 250,000 for five months,” said Ibrahim when interviewed at his shop. Ibrahim said the perpetrator had repeatedly demanded payments under the guise of security money at his shop. At the end of December 2025, the perpetrator also demanded payment for six months at once up to June 2026 amounting to Rp 180,000.
