Police have questioned four witnesses in connection with the murder of a Joxzin Brigade member in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. The victim’s wife is scheduled for questioning today.

“To date, four witnesses have been interviewed,” said Iptu Rita Hidayanto, Chief of Public Relations at Bantul Police, to journalists in Bantul on Friday, 27 February 2026.

The four witnesses are friends of the victim who were present at his home during the incident. “We have not yet questioned the victim’s wife as she is still grieving. As follow-up, today we will request a statement from the victim’s wife,” Hidayanto explained.

Police are also awaiting the results of digital forensic examination related to the murder. Officers have appealed to the public and the victim’s associates to provide any information about the incident. “Such information would assist the investigation process so this case can be quickly resolved,” she said.

The incident occurred in the early hours of 25 February when a man was fatally assaulted with a machete at his residence in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. The attack took place inside the home whilst the victim slept alongside his wife and child.

According to police, witness RPS (34), a resident of Argomulyo, was sleeping next to her husband, TYR (36), and their child in the living room at 05:30 hours when she heard the back door open. An assailant, whose face was covered, immediately swung a machete towards the sleeping victim. RPS attempted to parry the blade, sustaining lacerations to three fingers. Despite her efforts to block the attack, the machete struck the victim’s face, abdomen, and fingers, resulting in his death from severe injuries.
