JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The World Bank’s projection placing Indonesia’s economic growth at 4.7 percent in 2026 has drawn scrutiny from the DPR.

DPR Commission XI member Eric Hermawan believes that this projection does not yet reflect the national economic structure.

“It has the potential to inadequately reflect the structural characteristics of Indonesia’s economy, which is based on domestic consumption,” said Eric in his statement on Friday (10/4/2026).

External pressures are still acknowledged. Rising global energy prices and market uncertainties pose risks of slowdown.

External factors such as commodity prices and investor sentiment also influence the projection.

Nevertheless, several domestic indicators demonstrate resilience. The projected economic growth for the first quarter of 2026 is estimated to reach 5.6 percent.

Domestic demand remains strong. Stability in the financial sector and government spending further support growth.

“It remains the main pillar of national economic growth,” he said.

The contribution to Gross Domestic Product is still dominated by household consumption. This condition helps to dampen external impacts.

“Thus able to mitigate the contractionary effects from the external side,” Eric stated.
