Melawi Regency Government Apologises After Pornographic Video Appears on Public Videotron
The Melawi Regency Government has apologised to the public after a pornographic video appeared on a government-owned videotron screen at the Bundaran Nanga Pinoh on Monday. The incident, which occurred around 1:04 PM local time, quickly went viral on social media.
Plh Regional Secretary Joko Wahyono stated that the explicit content was not part of the official material planned, produced, or approved by the local government. “Based on initial investigations, there are indications that the videotron management account or system was accessed illegally by irresponsible parties, causing the display of content that violates the norms, ethics, and values upheld by the Regional Government,” Joko said in an official statement on Tuesday.
He explained that the Communication and Informatics Office acted swiftly by shutting down the broadcast, securing the management access, and conducting a system examination. The authorities are coordinating with relevant parties for further investigation. The government has also strengthened the system’s security to prevent similar incidents and reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, high-quality, and responsible public information services.
Joko urged the public not to disseminate recordings or screenshots of the incident and to avoid spreading unverified information. “We ask the public to wait for official information through the Regional Government’s official communication channels,” he added. The Regency Government expressed its deepest apologies for the discomfort caused and pledged to conduct a thorough evaluation to maintain public trust.
