MEKAR's productive financing wins three international awards
Jakarta - Information technology-based financing service fintech company PT Mekar Investama Teknologi (MEKAR) has won three international awards for developing a productive financing model that integrates financing with the agriculture, renewable energy, and food sectors to support real economic growth. MEKAR Chief Executive Officer Pandu Aditya Kristy said the awards reflect the company’s commitment to developing productive financing that delivers tangible impact for the community. “These awards reflect MEKAR’s commitment to redefining productive financing through creating tangible impact for society,” Pandu said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Saturday. At the FinanceAsia Awards 2026, MEKAR won the Winner Best Strategic Initiative Nonbank Financial Institutions (Indonesia) award and was Highly Commended for Biggest Sustainable Impact Nonbank Financial Institutions (Indonesia). On the same day, the company also received the Best Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Ecosystem Platform award at the WRISE Volare Awards 2026. According to Pandu, the awards reflect the development of the MEKAR Ecosystem, an ecosystem that connects financing with productive sectors so that access to capital not only becomes a source of funding but also drives business productivity and sustainable development. Unlike conventional financing models, this ecosystem integrates financing with the agriculture, renewable energy, and food sectors, making financing not just access to capital but also a catalyst for increasing productivity and business resilience. He noted that one of the main pillars of the ecosystem is Multi Micro Agriculture Financing (MMAF), an integrated financing model that combines productive financing with agronomy assistance, satellite-based land monitoring, market access, and partnerships within the agricultural value chain. Through this model, financing is channelled directly into production activities, helping farmers increase productivity, optimise land use, and strengthen income sustainability. In addition to the agricultural sector, the company also distributes productive financing to MSMEs. The company recorded that more than 80 per cent of financing recipients are MSMEs run by women, as part of efforts to expand financial inclusion and community economic empowerment. Furthermore, Pandu said the company also supports waste-to-energy initiatives through the processing of agricultural and wood waste into renewable energy as part of developing a circular economy. “We believe that the future of the financial sector does not stop at financing. By connecting capital to agriculture, waste-to-energy, and various other productive sectors through the MEKAR Ecosystem, we want to create a tangible impact for the community while supporting sustainable economic growth,” Pandu said. Going forward, he added, the company will expand the implementation of MMAF, strengthen strategic partnerships, and leverage technology to accelerate the development of sustainable finance in Indonesia.
