Mekari Talenta is expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to help human resources (HR) teams in Indonesia transform from administrative functions into strategic business partners. The move responds to industry pressure demanding that HR contribute directly to data-driven decision-making.

HR professionals are now required to fulfil a dual role: managing daily operations such as payroll and attendance whilst also acting as strategic partners who shape policies on productivity and talent risk. With limited staff and rising expectations from millennial and Gen Z employees, AI has become an active part of the decision-making process rather than merely a supporting tool.

PwC’s Global Workforce Hopes & Fears Survey 2025 revealed that 69 per cent of workers in Indonesia use AI, higher than the global average of 54 per cent. However, daily usage stands at only 16 per cent, indicating significant untapped potential. Meanwhile, Mercer Global Talent Trends 2026 noted a priority gap, with 63 per cent of the C-suite focused on AI integration for job redesign, whilst HR concentrates more on improving the employee experience.

To address these challenges, the Cloud HCM Software solution from the Mekari ecosystem introduces Mekari Airene, which is directly integrated into everyday HR workflows. The following are several new capabilities it delivers.

Mekari Airene is supported by four main pillars: a centralised Data Platform, Agentic Capabilities for automated action execution, AI Guardrails for compliance, and an Offline LLM that safeguards sensitive data on Mekari’s internal servers. As part of the ecosystem, data in Mekari Talenta flows automatically to other products such as Mekari Sign, Flex, Expense, Jurnal and Klikpajak.

Mekari CEO Suwandi Soh affirmed that the technology is designed to provide enterprise-grade tools with deep local understanding. “AI does not replace the role of HR, but frees them from repetitive administrative work so they can return to their most important role: developing people,” he said.

Stevens Jethefer, Head of Business at Mekari Talenta, added that AI adoption is about the quality of decisions. “When routine processes run automatically and data is presented clearly, HR elevates into a strategic partner that helps determine the direction of the business,” he concluded.
