Meidyatama: Independence Day celebration at Bucharest embassy strengthens solidarity
Bandarlampung (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ambassador to Romania and concurrently to the Republic of Moldova, Meidyatama Suryodiningrat, said the spirit shown during the 81st Independence Day commemoration ceremony was proof that distance does not extinguish the Indonesian spirit of citizens in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
Meidyatama Suryodiningrat emphasised that the 81st Independence Day commemoration is not only a moment to remember the struggle of the heroes, but also to strengthen solidarity and care for one another.
“Amidst the independence celebrations, our attention and prayers are also directed to our brothers and sisters in East Nusa Tenggara who were affected by the earthquake some time ago,” said Ambassador Meidyatama Suryodiningrat in a written statement received in Bandarlampung on Tuesday.
The 81st Independence Day commemoration, with the theme “A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia,” at the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest was held solemnly and modestly. The series of activities included a flag-raising ceremony for the red and white flag and a communal gathering, including a competition to wear traditional Indonesian regional attire.
The flag-raising team at the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest, consisting of 12 Indonesian citizens in Romania, briskly raised the red and white flag accompanied by the national anthem Indonesia Raya. All ceremony participants followed the procession with perfect posture, paying respect to the red and white flag and commemorating the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence 81 years ago.
Indonesian citizens in Romania commemorated the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence with a strong spirit of nationalism and togetherness at the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest on Monday (17/08).
Present at the event were officials of the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest, the Dharma Wanita Persatuan of the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest, students, Indonesian migrant workers, the Indonesian diaspora, and other Indonesian communities residing in Romania. A number of Romanian citizens, including friends of Indonesia and invited guests, also attended the commemoration.
Indonesian and Romanian communities who came to the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest expressed their joy at being able to jointly commemorate a very historic day for the Indonesian nation. Indonesian students also expressed pride in being able to contribute as flag-raising team members and ceremony officers at the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest.
Meanwhile, a Romanian citizen, Ioana Oltean, said she was very impressed to be able to attend the Indonesian Independence Day commemoration for the first time. Ioana deliberately came to the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest from Cluj-Napoca, approximately 165 km northwest of Bucharest, to experience the atmosphere of the Indonesian independence commemoration.
The 81st Independence Day commemoration served as a momentum for all Indonesian citizens in Romania and the Republic of Moldova to continue carrying the spirit of independence, unity, and mutual cooperation in making positive contributions to Indonesia as well as strengthening the friendship between Indonesia and Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
