Megawati's Warning to PDIP Cadres: Fail to Serve the People, and You're Fired

Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri has reminded regional heads from her party to improve their performance in advancing the areas they lead. Megawati has threatened to dismiss PDIP cadres who do not serve the people.

The warning was delivered by Megawati while attending the Dialogue with SMEs on Intellectual Property and Business Management in Klungkung, Bali, on Wednesday (1/4/2026). The fifth President of Indonesia also expressed her annoyance towards PDIP regional heads who are deemed to work sluggishly.

Megawati Threatens to Dismiss Cadres

On that occasion, Megawati stated that she is firm with PDIP cadres, including governors, regents, and members of parliament from the white-bull-horned party.

“Governors, deputies, DPR, all these regents, ask them, I’m fierce. I said, I made you to serve the people. Do you want to? If not, I’ll fire you. If you want to write it, write it, because I’m already annoyed. Because why, why isn’t it progressing,” said Megawati.

Megawati emphasised the importance of real performance from regional heads in serving the community. She also highlighted the slowness of performance by some cadres who are deemed not to have shown significant progress in their regions.
