Megawati's Prayer for Indonesia in the Holy Land: Stay United and Far from Division

Megawati Soekarnoputri offered prayers for Indonesia while performing umrah ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. Megawati prayed for Indonesia to remain harmonious and far from division.

The umrah was performed by Megawati and her family at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, 14 February 2026. During the umrah rituals, in addition to reciting the customary prayers, Megawati also offered special prayers recited during each round of tawaf.

Megawati’s umrah with her family was led by Ustaz Muhammad Hafidz Makmun, while Indonesia’s Ambassador to Tunisia Zuhairi Misrawi led the prayers.

In his prayers, Zuhairi prayed to Allah SWT to bless the path of democracy chosen by Indonesia to bring prosperity to its people. He supplicated to God for Indonesia to always be granted wisdom and honor.

Gus Mis, as Zuhairi is affectionately known, prayed that Indonesia, rich in natural resources, would be able to deliver prosperity to its people. Pancasila was hoped to serve as the unifier of the Indonesian nation.

“Bring prosperity to our people, bring us happiness, keep us united under Pancasila, beneath which we are determined to remain united despite our differences,” said Gus Mis, followed by Megawati and her family.

Additionally, Gus Mis prayed for Indonesia to remain united. Prayers were offered for the beloved nation to be kept far from division.

“Preserve the unity of our country, continue to unite us in brotherhood, keep us far from division and provocation,” said Gus Mis.

Megawati’s umrah entourage also prayed for the Indonesian nation to always find the path of peace amid the many conflicts afflicting other countries. Megawati and her family also prayed for the Indonesian nation to always be blessed with abundant sustenance.

“Make our country fertile. Send down abundant blessings from the heavens for our people. Keep us far from every division, no matter how small, O Allah, O Most Merciful,” read the prayer of Megawati’s umrah entourage, recited by Gus Mis.

During this umrah, Megawati performed tawaf on the second floor as per the arrangement by the Saudi royal family.
