Jakarta – Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi has stated that the Indonesian government appreciates the deep condolences from Indonesia’s fifth President and Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri, regarding the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei following attacks by the United States and Israel, as well as her congratulations on the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new Supreme Leader.

To His Excellency
Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Re: Congratulations
With respect and in the spirit of brotherhood
As the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia, on behalf of myself, the extended family of Sukarno, and the Indonesian nation that cherishes friendships between peoples, I extend sincere congratulations on the selection of Your Excellency Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as Rahbar (Supreme Leader) of the Islamic Republic of Iran through the democratic decision of 88 members of the Expert Assembly.
This selection took place amid challenges and circumstances that were not entirely conducive; nevertheless, Your Excellency has succeeded in gaining the great trust of Iran’s scholars and people. This selection stands as testament to Your Excellency’s leadership, capability, profound knowledge, and steadfastness, such that you have bridged divisions and united Iran’s leadership.
Sukarno, the Proclamator and Father of the Indonesian Nation, who was also my father, consistently emphasised the importance of national unity, national self-reliance, and firmness in preserving national sovereignty and independence. Throughout his entire struggle, Sukarno continuously fostered brotherhood amongst the nations of Asia, Africa, and Latin America in order to build a new world order by liberating ourselves from all forms of imperialism and colonialism.
