DHAKA: Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri is expected to visit Bangladesh next month, a foreign ministry spokesman said Thursday.

He told reporters Megawati's itinerary was "being worked out" and did not give an exact date.

However, Bangladeshi newspapers, quoting diplomatic sources, said Megawati would visit for three days from June 18.

Indonesia and Bangladesh are the world's first and third largest Muslim-majority countries respectively.

Megawati last visited Bangladesh in 2001 when she was Indonesia's vice president.
