Megawati to open President Cup

JAKARTA (JP): Vice President Megawati Soekarnoputri is scheduled to open the 19th international amateur boxing President Cup at the Grand Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur, Bali, on July 27.

Chairman of the organizing committee, Nyoman Sukesna, said as quoted by Antara that the championships would feature 168 boxers from 25 countries including Japan, Russia, England, India, Germany and Malaysia.

Indonesia will field two teams; the Indonesia Garuda team comprising of 10 boxers and the Indonesia Rajawali consisting of eight boxers. They will compete in 12 classes.

The championships will be closed by the Police chief Gen. Rusdihardjo on Aug. 3. (yan)
