Megawati to open antiterrorist school
SEMARANG: President Megawati Soekarnoputri is scheduled on
July 3 to inaugurate an international antiterrorist school being
developed in Semarang, Central Java, by the National Police.
The school will train high-ranking police officers from at
least 24 countries in the Asia-Pacific region on how to deal with
terrorism, National Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar said on
Wednesday.
He added that trainers will come from Indonesia and other
countries.
"The building of the antiterrorist school is the result of a
meeting in Bali province last February. Indonesia has been chosen
to develop the school because of its experience in dealing with
the JW Marriott Hotel and Bali bombings," Da'i said.
