Megawati to inaugurate Indragiri bridge

PEKANBARU, Riau: President Megawati Soekarnoputri is scheduled to inaugurate the Indragiri Bridge in Indragiri Hilir district, Riau province, on Saturday, a provincial administration spokesman said.

"The ceremony was supposed to take place last Monday when the head of state was in Pekanbaru, but it was canceled due to bad weather," Edi Yusti said on Friday.

He said the President, who will travel to the location by helicopter, would also campaign in Riau on Saturday for her party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).

During the inauguration, he said, the President would be accompanied by Riau Governor HM Rusli Zainal. -- Antara
