Megawati To Hold Eid Open House at PDIP Headquarters

PDIP chair Megawati Soekarnoputri is set to host an Eid open house and family gathering at the party’s headquarters on Jalan Diponegoro in Central Jakarta, representing a departure from tradition.

PDIP fraction member Charles Honoris stated that this year’s open house will be held at the party offices rather than Megawati’s private residence in the Menteng district of Central Jakarta, which has been the customary venue.

“This year the open house will be at party headquarters, so not at home, but at the party headquarters,” Honoris said at the parliamentary complex on Tuesday (17 March).

The Deputy Chair of the House Commission on Health indicated there was no particular reason for the venue change, explaining that the decision to use the party headquarters was based on the facility’s larger size.

“There’s no special reason really; we also thought the headquarters would be a larger space. We can invite more people,” Honoris said.

The open house is planned for the first day of Eid and will be attended by the party leadership, including family members and Megawati’s daughter Puan Maharani, who serves as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Honoris noted that whilst formal invitations have not yet been issued, the PDIP leadership has informed members of the event, which is scheduled to take place in the afternoon at approximately 11:00 am.
