Megawati Threatens to Dismiss PDIP Regional Heads if They Fail to Serve the People

PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri has reminded regional heads from her party to enhance their performance in advancing the regions they lead. Megawati has threatened to dismiss PDIP cadres who fail to serve the people.

She made this statement in her speech at the Dialogue Meeting with SMEs on Intellectual Property and Business Management in Klungkung, Bali, on Wednesday (1/4/2026). The fifth President of Indonesia also expressed her annoyance towards PDIP regional heads who work slowly.

On that occasion, Megawati said she is strict with PDIP cadres, including governors, regents, and DPR members from the bull-horned party.

“Governors, deputies, DPR, all these regents, ask them, I’m fierce. I say, I made you to serve the people. Do you want to? If not, I’ll dismiss you. If you want to write it, write it, because I’m annoyed. Why, why isn’t it progressing,” said Megawati.

Megawati explained the importance of coordination and cooperation in advancing regions. She likened efforts to advance the nation to a necklace that cannot be worn if broken. “So there must be a chain link,” she added.

It is known that Megawati’s presence at the SME Dialogue Meeting was in her capacity as Chair of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Advisory Board. Megawati also attended the presentation of Intellectual Property Rights certificates to SMEs in Bali Province at the Ida Dewa Agung Istri Kanya Cultural Hall, Klungkung.
