Megawati, Susilo to attend NU meet

SURABAYA: Presidential aspirants Megawati Soekarnoputri and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono are slated to attend on Monday Nahdlatul Ulama's Halaqah, or preparatory meeting, for a November assembly in Surabaya, East Java.

NU deputy chairman Ahmad Bagja was quoted on Sunday by Antara as saying that all presidential aspirants -- Megawati Soekarnoputri, Gen. (ret) Wiranto, Gen. (ret) Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Amien Rais and Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid had been invited to the meeting, but only Megawati and Susilo had confirmed their attendance.

Neither Megawati, who is seeking a full five-year term in the country's first direct presidential election on July 5, nor Susilo were available for comments. --Antara
