Megawati Meets Sri Sultan for 3.5 Hours at Yogyakarta Palace

The Sultan of the Yogyakarta Kraton, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, received a visit from the Chairperson of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, at the Yogyakarta Palace on Friday (22/5) evening. During the warm meeting, which included dinner, the Sultan was accompanied by his wife, Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Hemas, and several of their children, including GKR Condrokirono, GKR Bendara, and his son-in-law, Kanjeng Pangeran Haryo (KPH) Purbodiningrat.

Megawati arrived at approximately 19:00 WIB, accompanied by her family and members of the PDIP Central Executive Board (DPP), including her son M. Prananda Prabowo, his wife Nancy Prananda, her granddaughter Pinka Hapsari, and her nieces Puti Soekarno and Romy Soekarno, alongside PDIP politician Bintang Puspayoga. The Sultan hosted his guests with traditional ‘wedang semlo’ amidst the sounds of gamelan music playing around the pendopo.

The dinner engagement was a lengthy affair, lasting 3.5 hours. In addition to the meeting with the Sultan, Megawati’s visit to Yogyakarta included attending the wedding reception of the son of PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto, Ignatius Windu Hastomo (Igo) and Lim Xin Rui (Emily), held at the Pendapa Kridha Manunggal Budaya on Saturday (23/5).

The fifth President of Indonesia personally offered her congratulations to Hasto Kristiyanto and his wife, Maria Ekowati. Megawati was also accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, during the event. The wedding was attended by numerous PDIP leaders, including Ganjar Pranowo, Komaruddin Watubun, and Bambang Wuryanto, as well as prominent public figures such as Mahfud MD, Todung Mulya Lubis, and Rocky Gerung.
