Megawati meets Mugabe

JAKARTA: President Megawati Soekarnoputri received Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, who was here on a private visit, on Wednesday and expressed understanding about the chaotic domestic politics in the African country.

During the 30-minute discussion, the two presidents also discussed potential economic cooperation between the two developing nations.

"President Mugabe also invited President Megawati to make an official visit to Zimbabwe," Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda said after the meeting.

A member of the presidential staff told The Jakarta Post that during the meeting Mugabe also invited Megawati to attend the G- 15 meeting.

Mugabe was on leave and paid a private visit to Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.--JP
