Megawati leads closing of Bung Karno Month 2026 in Bali

The 5th President of Indonesia and Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan Central Executive Board, Megawati Soekarnoputri, led the closing of Bung Karno Month 2026 in Sanur, Bali, on Sunday, marking the culmination of a series of commemorations held throughout June. The closing ceremony concluded the Bung Karno Month programme, which was opened in early June 2026 at the Multatuli Museum in Lebak, Banten, by PDI Perjuangan Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto. In a written statement, Hasto said the Bung Karno Month commemoration served as a moment to reaffirm the values of Pancasila and the spirit of Bung Karno’s struggle. “Pancasila is not only the nation’s ideology, but Pancasila must also build a new world order,” Hasto stated. The closing event also featured regional art and cultural performances, as well as reports from party structures, as a form of PDI Perjuangan’s commitment to grounding Pancasila values in community life. The main event space was dominated by red lighting and LED screens displaying the official logo of Bung Karno Month 2026. The entourage was welcomed by the leadership of PDI Perjuangan’s Bali Regional Executive Board, headed by its Chairman, Wayan Koster. Before entering the main hall, Megawati toured an exhibition area showcasing culinary products, fashion, and photographic documentation of various activities held throughout Bung Karno Month 2026. The holding of the closing ceremony in Bali concluded the series of Bung Karno Month events, which carried the theme of strengthening Pancasila ideology and the spirit of Bung Karno’s struggle.
