Megawati given honorary title

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: The South Sumatra Traditional Council
awarded President Megawati Soekarnoputri the honorary title of
Nyi Mas Ratu Junjung on Saturday, only two weeks ahead of the
July 5 presidential election.

The title is traditionally given on people considered by the
South Sumatran public as "noble" (mulia).

The title was bestowed by the chairman of the South Sumatran
Traditional Advisory Council, Ali Amin, during the inauguration
of the Jakabaring Sriwijaya Sports Stadium here. -- JP
