Megawati gets orangutan backing

SEMARANG: Supporters of Megawati Soekarnoputri's Indonesian
Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) never run out of
fresh ideas to draw people's attention to their street rallies.

On Thursday, they paraded two large orangutans on motorcycles
around town.

Wearing the party's red t-shirts each emblazoned with the PDI
Perjuangan's symbol of a bullhead, the two hairy supporters
looked well-spirited, while smiling and waving at enthusiastic
onlookers.

S. Didiek, a Semarang resident who owns the primates, said he
raised the orangutans for two years and they loved going out on a
motorbike.

"I have spent several months training them for this campaign,"
