Secretary General of PDI Perjuangan (PDI-P) Hasto Kristiyanto stated that the party’s General Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri has become a global reference in discussing the history of Indonesia’s first president Soekarno as well as global geopolitical issues.

Hasto made this remark in response to the frequency of Megawati’s meetings with ambassadors from friendly countries in recent times.

“Mother Mega is a primary source regarding Indonesian history, regarding Bung Karno, Bung Karno’s struggles, and also Mother Mega’s leadership as the fifth president,” said Hasto when met at the PDI-P Party School in South Jakarta on Saturday (18/4/2026).

“Thus, Mother Mega is open to receiving visits from ambassadors of friendly countries,” he added.

Hasto further explained that in these various meetings, Megawati also frequently expresses her stance on various global dynamics, including when she perceives injustices.

“And then when seeing injustices, Mother Mega also takes a stance,” said Hasto.

In addition, Megawati conveys congratulations when leadership in those countries is reformed.

“Yes, that is what Mother Mega does,” he said.

Furthermore, Hasto mentioned that a number of ambassadors from various countries have met and will meet with Megawati. Among them are the Ambassadors of Pakistan, Germany, the UK, Australia, and Vietnam.

“All of them become friends to jointly discuss geopolitical issues and their relevance to the challenges currently faced, especially in building bilateral relations with those friendly countries,” Hasto stated.

On Friday (17/4/2026), she received the German Ambassador to Indonesia, Ralf Beste.

Previously, Megawati also received the Qatari Ambassador to Indonesia, Sultan bin Mubarak Al-Dosari, on Monday (13/4/2026), as well as the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi, on Thursday (9/3/2026).

Additionally, Megawati once received visits from several ambassadors of friendly countries during the Halal Bihalal event for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah held at the PDI-P DPP Building in Central Jakarta on Saturday (21/3/2026).

The attending ambassadors included those from the UK, Iran, Palestine, and the Deputy Ambassador of Russia.
