Megawati Does Not Hold Open House or Griya Gathering Event

Jakarta - The General Chair of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Megawati Soekarnoputri, will not hold the tradition of open house or griya gathering during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. As in previous years, the fifth president prefers to celebrate Lebaran with her family and closest associates. “There is no open house,” said Hasto in a written statement on Saturday, 21 March 2026. However, Megawati has a special message for Lebaran. The Chair of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency, according to Hasto, invites the public to utilise Eid al-Fitr as a means to enhance bonds of brotherhood to maintain harmony together. In addition, Hasto conveyed that Megawati prays that Eid al-Fitr can ignite the spirit of youth to contribute to Indonesia’s development. “Eid al-Fitr becomes a very important momentum to realise national brotherhood through a lifestyle of mutual forgiveness,” said Hasto, quoting Megawati’s message. This attitude of mutual forgiveness, Hasto explained, should be prioritised even more after 30 days of fasting. Hasto extended Eid al-Fitr greetings to Muslims. He hopes this festive day will strengthen all elements to maintain unity. “Mother Megawati invites all Indonesian people to make Eid al-Fitr a space for self-reflection, to strengthen ties of friendship, and to build a spirit of mutual cooperation in social, national, and state life,” said Hasto.
