The 5th President of Indonesia and Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri, closed the Bung Karno Month celebrations held in Bali. The event reportedly involved 625 villages across the island. During the closing ceremony, the Chairman of PDIP Bali, Wayan Koster, detailed the total community participation, noting that 625 out of 636 villages simultaneously held Bung Karno Month celebrations using allocations from the Village Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBDes) and community self-help funds. ‘The total funds collected and used across all villages reached Rp10.5 billion. This proves that Bung Karno’s teachings have taken root down to the village level,’ Koster stated. Koster said the movement embodies the philosophical theme ‘Be Faithful to Your Source’. He asserted that the source of the party’s strength is not power or position, but the trust of the people. ‘The party will only remain alive if it stays united with the pulse of the people, listens to their voices, fights for their interests, and keeps the people’s spirit burning,’ Koster added. The event featured various Nusantara cultural performances, including Matembang Sastra Bali, a Jugling Arak attraction, Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali gymnastics, and classical Bapang Barong and Mekendang Tunggal performances. A fashion show featuring authentic Endek woven fabric from local Balinese artisans, accompanied by ethnic musician Gus Teja, also enlivened the celebration. Koster also expressed appreciation to DPP PDIP Chair for Creative Economy and Digital, Prananda Prabowo, for his hard work behind the scenes in promoting creative and innovative activities.
