Megawati bound for Sumatra

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: Vice President Megawati Soekarnoputri is slated to visit South Sumatra province on Saturday for a two-day official trip.

South Sumatra administration spokesman Lexy Yoesman said on Thursday that the Vice President would visit some businesses, including PT Bukit Asam coal miner in Tanjung Enim, PT Pupuk Sriwijaya fertilizer producer and an oil refinery in Prabumulih.

Prior to the South Sumatra trip, Megawati is scheduled to visit Lampung and Bengkulu provinces on March 30 and March 31.

"She will attend the Tabot ceremony, and visit her father's detention site in Bengkulu," Yoesman said.

"She is also expected to advise the Bengkulu administration on promoting the Tabot ceremony as a tourist attraction."

The Tabot ceremony is held by Bengkulu people on the 10th of the Muharam Month in the Hijriyah (Islamic) calendar. (33)
