Megawati and Prabowo to Meet Again, Promise Shared Fried Rice Dinner

President Prabowo Subianto and the Chairperson of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, have promised to meet again in the near future.

This plan for a follow-up meeting was confirmed by the Daily Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, and the PDIP Central Executive Board Chairperson, Puan Maharani, when they were met at the DPR RI Building following a Plenary Session on Tuesday (29/09/2026).

Previously, Prabowo visited Megawati’s residence on Jalan Teuku Umar, Jakarta, on Monday night (28/09/2026). Prabowo’s visit was intended to convey condolences following the passing of Guruh Soekarnoputra, Megawati’s brother.

However, the meeting between the two was said to have been limited in duration. Dasco noted that there were still pending agendas that could not be completed, including a shared meal.

“What was discussed yesterday was the fried rice, which was not served because it was not yet dinner time,” said Dasco.

According to Dasco, the timing of the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati yesterday was awkward, meaning the shared meal agenda could not be carried out.

“The timing was inconvenient. Therefore, another time will be arranged to eat fried rice together,” said Dasco.

Puan, who was present at the location, also confirmed that the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati yesterday was brief.

“Yes, the timing was inconvenient,” added Puan, while walking alongside Dasco.

Dasco stated that a follow-up meeting between Prabowo and Megawati is currently being arranged. Puan ensured that the meeting would take place in the near future.

“It is being arranged by Mbak Puan,” said Dasco.

“As soon as possible,” Puan emphasised.

Regarding this fried rice matter, back in July 2019, Prabowo had previously shared a meal with Megawati. At that time, Megawati served fried rice. Prabowo admitted that he had even gone for seconds.

“I even had seconds. Even though she (Megawati) reminded me to watch my weight,” he said.
