Megawati Advised Prabowo to Vary the Free Nutritious Meal Menu
The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, revealed that she had given input to President Prabowo Subianto regarding the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. She made this statement during the Exposure of the Second Source Manuscript of the State Archives event held by the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP).
Initially, Megawati highlighted the presence of many women in the audience, expressing her concern that they might not be paying full attention to the discussion on Pancasila. She then touched upon the issue of bullying among children and questioned the role of parents in child development.
Megawati subsequently mentioned the MBG programme, noting her long-standing friendship with Prabowo. She stated that she had suggested the menu for the free meals should not be monotonous. “I told Pak Prabowo about the MBG, I spoke as a mother. I have been friends with him for a long time. I said, ‘Mas, I see the food is always the same. Our regions are diverse, why not have rendang once in a while?’ He laughed,” Megawati said.
She also encouraged parents not to be afraid to voice their opinions, observing that many people appeared overly tense.
