Megawati Accompanied by Prananda Attends Closing of Bung Karno Month 2026 in Bali
The 5th President of Indonesia and Chairwoman of the PDI-P Central Executive Board, Megawati Soekarnoputri, attended the closing ceremony of Bung Karno Month 2026 at the Bali Beach Convention Center, The Meru, Sanur, Bali, on Sunday, 28 June 2026. Her presence marked the culmination of a series of commemorations that had taken place throughout June 2026. Megawati entered the main hall accompanied by her son, PDI-P Central Executive Board Chair M. Prananda Prabowo, and his wife, Nancy Prananda. Their arrival was greeted with applause and chants of ‘Merdeka’ from thousands of party cadres and invited guests who filled the venue. The entourage was welcomed by the PDI-P Bali Regional Executive Board, led by its Chair, Wayan Koster. Before entering the main hall, Megawati also visited an exhibition area showcasing various culinary and fashion products, as well as a photo exhibition documenting the month-long series of Bung Karno activities. The closing event in Bali marked the end of a series of activities that were opened earlier in June at the Multatuli Museum in Lebak, Banten, by PDI-P Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto. Throughout the month, the commemoration featured cultural agendas, exhibitions, and reflections on the values of Bung Karno’s struggle. Hasto had previously emphasised that the Bung Karno Month commemoration was not merely an annual ceremony, but a momentum to revive the spirit of Pancasila in national life. He stated that Pancasila is not only the nation’s ideology, but must also build a new world order. According to Hasto, the entire series of activities, from photo exhibitions to culinary and cultural events, was designed to remind cadres of the historical roots of the people’s struggle and the values inherited from Bung Karno. The closing ceremony in Bali also featured various regional cultural performances and reports from party structures, forming part of PDI-P’s efforts to ground Pancasila values through cultural activities and political education for the public.
