Megawati absent from MPR Annual Session due to other commitments

The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia and Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan, Megawati Soekarnoputri, was unable to attend the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday due to other commitments. This was confirmed by PDI-P DPP Chairman Djarot Saiful Hidayat, who was present at the complex. “Ibu Mega is not here; she has an activity today that cannot be postponed,” Djarot told reporters. He also could not confirm her attendance at the 81st Independence Day celebration at the Merdeka Palace on Monday. “For the 17th, Ibu Mega usually has a ceremony at the Party School. We will check later, but she usually leads the flag ceremony at the Party School,” Djarot said. Among the notable figures attending the annual session were the 7th President Joko Widodo, the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, and the 11th Vice President Budiono, along with ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet. The session featured a speech by President Prabowo Subianto, who delivered the state address and a performance report of state institutions in conjunction with the 81st Independence Day anniversary, themed ‘A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia’.
