Megapolitan.ID Launches Rebranding and New Website on 1 Muharram 1447 H
Megapolitan.ID officially announced its rebranding and the launch of a new website design on 27 June 2025 in Bekasi, coinciding with 1 Muharram 1447 H. The Islamic New Year was chosen as the starting point for this urban media outlet’s transformation, aiming to deliver fresher, more relevant and in-depth city narratives.
Megapolitan.ID Editor-in-Chief Yusuf Blegur said the rebranding marks a renewed commitment to delivering digital information that is critical, reflective and aligned with the voices of city residents. Megapolitan.ID now aims to serve not merely as a news outlet but also as a space for expression, participation and broader social engagement.
Blegur explained that the Islamic New Year carries profound spiritual significance, namely hijrah — moving towards a better state. “We chose 1 Muharram not merely as a symbol, but because we believe the values of hijrah are highly relevant to this media’s mission: transforming into a more progressive, more humane and more honest outlet in voicing urban realities,” he said.
The move also signals that Megapolitan.ID is not only undertaking a cosmetic refresh but also reinvigorating its vision and content strategy.
The transformation is evident in the latest website design, which is cleaner, faster and more responsive. The dominant red colour symbolises energy, courage and the spirit of innovation, reinforcing Megapolitan.ID’s identity as a media outlet that is active and responsive to urban issues.
Beyond aesthetics, Megapolitan.ID has also restructured its editorial team, strengthened content curation by bringing in expert editors, and expanded its sections to better address the needs of urban communities.
“We don’t want to merely look good on the outside. More than that, this rebranding is a promise to deliver high-quality, balanced content that is close to its readers,” Blegur said.
The outlet has adopted the tagline “Wajah Kota, Cerita Kita” (The Face of the City, Our Story), which serves as the guiding spirit for all its sections and content — reflecting that every development, change or urban phenomenon is ultimately a shared story.
Megapolitan.ID’s vision is to become a trusted news portal delivering timely, critical and inspirational information about metropolitan life in Indonesia. Its reinforced mission includes delivering in-depth and reflective local and national news, serving as an active bridge between residents, authorities and city business players, promoting information democracy and digital literacy through educational content, and functioning as a collaborative media platform open to young journalists, academics and urban activists.
The rebranding also opens greater opportunities for collaboration with various parties, from local communities and government institutions to the private sector and social organisations. Megapolitan.ID has established partnerships with more than 150 news portals across various niches and regions in Indonesia.
“We are opening opportunities for synergy and collaboration with anyone to build better cities,” Blegur said. “We open our arms for collaboration. We believe a city cannot be built alone, nor can its narratives. So we invite all parties to write, speak and voice what has long been left unsaid.”
Amid the prevalence of misinformation in society, Megapolitan.ID has chosen a path that is meaningful, rooted and impactful. Its new website serves not only as a tool for conveying information but as a platform for building empathy and urban awareness.
