Mega urged to summon A. Rachman

JAKARTA: President Megawati Soekarnoputri is urged to summon
Attorney General M. Abdul Rachman for questioning on where he has
obtained the funds for his recent luxurious wedding party for his
daughter.

The appeal was made by Indira Damayanti Bambang Sugondo, a
member of the House of Representatives (DPR) from the Indonesian
Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), in a press conference here
Friday.

Indira Damayanti pointed out that Megawati had once expressed
concerns over the luxurious wedding party held at the Sudirman
Building here on June 8.

Indira Damayanti said such an expression of concern was not
sufficient, adding that the President's stance should be
translated into concrete admonishment or even punishment if
necessary.

"I appreciate Megawati's expression of concerns over the
luxurious wedding party. It shows that she has a standpoint on
that. But I think the President should take stiff measures as to
summon the Attorney General for questioning. If I were her I
would query where the Attorney General has got that much money
from", the PDIP cadre said. --Antara
