Mega to kick off fishermen meeting

MANADO, North Sulawesi: President Megawati Soekarnoputri, who is
seeking reelection this year, is scheduled to open the national
meeting of the Fishermen Farmers Mainstay Group on June 5 in
Tondano, Minahasa regency here.

The head of the economic bureau at the North Sulawesi
provincial administration, Abdi W. Buchari, said on Saturday
15,000 people were expected to attend the meeting.

Several other high-ranking officials are also expected to
attend the meeting, including Vice President Hamzah Haz and vice
presidential candidate Siswono Yudohusodo, who chairs the
Indonesian Farmers Association. -- JP
