Mega orders count on medal recipients

JAKARTA: Outgoing President Megawati Soekarnoputri asked the Committee of State Honorary Medalists to list the names of those who have received state medals over the past four years.

"We were asked to list the names of the recipients from 2000 to 2004, to be given to the new administration," committee chairman Soerjadi Soedirdja said on Thursday.

He said there was no discussion about possible future candidates for state medals, saying that would be done by the next administration.

The committee is assigned to select people to receive state medals, which are presented on Independence Day on Aug. 17 and National Heroes Day on Nov. 10.--JP
