Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated Indonesia’s support for the 20-point peace plan initiated by former US President Donald Trump as part of efforts to promote a long-term solution to the Palestinian conflict.

This statement was made by President Prabowo Subianto during his meeting with the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, at the Basman Palace, Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday afternoon local time.

On this occasion, Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s support for international peace initiatives, based on a strong commitment to realizing a two-state solution with an independent Palestine as the only way to achieve peace.

“When we were invited to join the Peace Council and we supported President Trump’s 20-point plan, it was all with the view and effort to do everything we can to achieve that lasting solution,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia is ready to play an active role in various international forums to strengthen its diplomatic position in promoting the resolution of the conflict, especially in Gaza and the West Bank.

He also emphasized the importance of close coordination with Jordan as a country that is closest to the dynamics of the conflict in the region.

Furthermore, Prabowo said that the developments in the West Bank need to be a serious concern because they have the potential to affect stabilization efforts in Gaza.

Therefore, more intensive cooperation between Indonesia and Jordan is considered important so that the two countries can continue to monitor the latest developments and respond quickly.

In addition to expressing support for the peace plan, Prabowo also reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to continue standing in solidarity with countries in the region in fighting for the rights of the Palestinian people.

This step also reaffirms Indonesia’s consistent foreign policy position in supporting the independence of Palestine through diplomatic channels and international cooperation.

During the meeting, President Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.
