President Prabowo Subianto visited the office of the Japanese Prime Minister at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo. Prabowo’s arrival was welcomed with a state reception ceremony by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

According to observations by detikcom on Tuesday (31/3/2026), Prabowo arrived at the Akasaka Palace complex at 11.10 local time. Prabowo was personally greeted by Prime Minister Sanae upon his arrival at the complex.

Prabowo and Sanae shook hands and engaged in brief conversation. Afterwards, they entered the main room of the palace, which features grand classical European architecture with dominant gold and red colours.

A contingent of the musical corps was lined up neatly in the room, holding their instruments. Prabowo and Sanae then walked towards the podium in the centre of the room, accompanied by musical accompaniment.

Behind Prabowo and Sanae, the flags of Indonesia and Japan were displayed. The national anthems of both countries were then played.

The two leaders then conducted an inspection of the troops. Prabowo showed a gesture of respect to the troops, while Sanae bowed.

Prabowo subsequently introduced the accompanying government officials. Among them were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir.

The agenda continued with a bilateral meeting. The meeting was also attended by delegations from both countries.
