Meeting Vice President Gibran, World Mosque Youth Asked to Unite the Younger Generation
Jakarta, VIVA – Leaders of the World Mosque Youth met with Indonesia’s Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
During the occasion, Vice President Gibran emphasised the importance of the World Mosque Youth’s role in maintaining national unity, particularly among the country’s younger generation.
“Vice President instructed the World Mosque Youth to continue working for the interests of the Indonesian ummah and to remain a binding force for the younger generation in society,” said Said Aldi Al Idrus, President of the World Mosque Youth, after the meeting.
Vice President Gibran also appreciated the World Mosque Youth’s contributions to cleaning hundreds of thousands of places of worship, not just mosques, as one effort to maintain harmony among people of different faiths.
“The World Mosque Youth coordinates the cleaning of houses of worship, mosques, temples, shrines, churches throughout Indonesia, and the Vice President greatly appreciates that a mosque youth group is cleaning other houses of worship,” he revealed.
Said Aldi explained that the World Mosque Youth’s vision aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, which focuses on strengthening superior, high-quality, and competitive Indonesians towards Golden Indonesia 2045.
To support this vision, the World Mosque Youth has also initiated the International Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ).
“This event has been held in the lead-up to the hajj season for the past 11 years, rotating in several countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, and Thailand. Notably, this year the international MTQ will be held in Indonesia for the first time, competing for the Vice President’s Cup,” said Said Aldi.
“And we will do this every year, in the lead-up to the hajj pilgrims heading to Arafah, we recite the Qur’an at Istiqlal, so that there is blessing and prayer for hajj pilgrims around the world preparing for wuquf. Now we start in Indonesia and compete for the Vice President’s rotating cup,” he added.
Furthermore, Said Aldi Al Idrus expressed hope that Vice President Gibran would graciously attend to officially open the series of events.
It is known that the World Mosque Youth is a Muslim youth organisation and mosque youth spread across 31 countries. Under the guidance of Bahlil Lahadalia as Chairman of the Advisory Board, this organisation is active in various humanitarian missions, from cleaning hundreds of thousands of houses of worship to distributing humanitarian aid to disaster and conflict areas in Rohingya and Palestine.
