Meeting the King, Prabowo Extends Ramadan Greetings to the People of Jordan
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto extended Ramadan greetings to the people of Jordan during his meeting with the King of Jordan, His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, at the Basman Palace in Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday afternoon local time.
During the bilateral meeting, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him on his second visit to Jordan.
“On behalf of Indonesia and myself, I would also like to wish the people of Jordan a blessed Ramadan. And thank you for the warm welcome; it is a great honour,” President Prabowo said, as recorded in an audio message received in Jakarta on Thursday.
The President expressed his great honour in returning to Jordan, which he considers his second home.
Furthermore, Prabowo and King Abdullah, who share a close personal relationship, have met several times.
The first meeting between the two took place when President Prabowo visited Jordan in April 2025. Subsequently, King Abdullah made a reciprocal visit to the Independence Palace to witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding in November 2025.
The King of Jordan and President Prabowo have, in fact, maintained a personal friendship for quite some time, dating back to their younger years.
Both leaders are alumni of the prestigious United States Army Ranger School at Fort Benning.
“It is always a great honour for me to come to my second home here. We have known each other for decades, I think,” Prabowo said.
In this third meeting, President Prabowo and King Abdullah focused on discussing the issue of Palestine, particularly the situation in Gaza and the West Bank.
During the meeting, the President expressed his concern regarding the violence perpetrated by Israeli Zionists against the Palestinian people in the West Bank.
According to the President, these incidents in the West Bank could hinder the peace efforts in Gaza undertaken by the Board of Peace.
During the bilateral meeting, President Prabowo was accompanied by several officials, including Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Meanwhile, the King of Jordan was accompanied by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah al-Hashimi, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and several other state officials and high-ranking military officers.
