Meeting the Commander: What the National Police Chief Discussed at TNI Headquarters
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo paid a courtesy visit to TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Monday (13/7), aimed at strengthening the solidity and synergy between the two institutions.
Listyo Sigit said the visit was a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions, which emphasise the importance of TNI and Polri solidarity in supporting the implementation of government programmes.
“Because this is the main key for our nation, as hoped for by the President, to continue running the President’s policy programmes, and all of that can proceed if TNI and Polri remain solid,” he said, as quoted from an official statement.
According to the National Police Chief, the cohesion of TNI and Polri forms an important foundation for maintaining national stability while ensuring that various government policies can run smoothly.
He also reminded that there are parties attempting to drive a wedge between TNI and Polri. For this reason, the National Police are committed to continuously strengthening communication, coordination and cooperation with the TNI.
“Because there are many who have an interest in dividing TNI and Polri, so on this occasion, together with the principal officials, we will continue to enhance synergy and solidity with the TNI,” he said.
The National Police Chief added that his side is opening the widest possible channels of communication should there be matters that need to be discussed together, in order to preserve the harmony of relations between the two institutions.
“Regarding matters that perhaps must be talked about and communicated, because there are those attempting to divide TNI and Polri, please communicate directly with all the principal officials. We are open to that,” he said.
During the visit, the National Police Chief was accompanied by Deputy National Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, Inspector General of Supervision Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, Head of the Intelligence and Security Bureau Commissioner General Yuda Gustawan, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department Commissioner General Syahardiantono, Head of the Education and Training Institute Commissioner General RZ Panca Putra, Commander of the Mobile Brigade Corps Commissioner General Ramdani Hidayat, and a number of other principal officials from National Police Headquarters.
Meanwhile, the TNI Commander was accompanied by Deputy TNI Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, Air Force Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Mohammad Tonny Harjono, TNI Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Richard Tampubolon, and a number of other principal officials from TNI Headquarters.
