Meeting Temasek Executives, Deputy Speaker of the MPR Discusses Energy Policy and Renewable Energy Investments

During the meeting, Eddy explained Indonesia’s energy policy, including the government’s ongoing acceleration of the energy transition. ‘The development sectors for solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal energy are among the Renewable Energy (EBT) sectors that the government will prioritise going forward as part of Indonesia’s commitment to building the economy,’ Eddy said in a statement on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. ‘We must emphasise that this economic development will continue to uphold the principle of sustainability, particularly in terms of decarbonisation,’ he added. Meanwhile, Ashok, who is also a former Singaporean ambassador to Indonesia, outlined several investment activities in the renewable energy sector carried out by Temasek units, such as Sembawang Corp and Keppel. ‘Temasek is opening its doors wide to participate in the development of EBT projects in Indonesia, including the Waste-to-Energy Power Plant being built extensively by the government,’ Ashok said. Meeting Temasek CEO, Discuss Climate Change Issues On the same day, Eddy also met Temasek CEO Dhilan Pillay Sandrasegara at the opening banquet of Ecosperity Week. They discussed several important changes related to climate change issues. Eddy also explained several regulations supporting Indonesia’s climate control programme, such as Presidential Regulation No. 110/2025 on the Carbon Economic Value. The introduction of this regulation is expected to accelerate the carbon trading process, including reducing emissions. ‘We also explained that as a member of the DPR, we continue to push for the discussion of the Climate Change Management Bill to provide a legal umbrella to strengthen Indonesia’s efforts in addressing the climate crisis, which has caused rising temperatures, extreme weather, natural disasters and acute ecological degradation,’ Eddy said. In this meeting, Dhilan Pillay comprehensively explained Temasek’s commitment to investing in a prudent, responsible and sustainable manner, particularly in complying with sustainability aspects. Dhilan also expressed his wish to strengthen investment cooperation in Indonesia’s industrial sector. It is noted that previous investments have performed well by leveraging Indonesia’s human resources expertise. Ecosperity Week in Singapore is known as the region’s largest climate policy forum. At this event, Eddy is scheduled to speak in the ‘Carbon Market Development’ session and participate in a limited discussion with senior officials on ‘Addressing Climate Change in Southeast Asia.’
