Meeting Putin, Prabowo: I Came for Consultation Due to World Geopolitics

President Prabowo Subianto met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Russia. Prabowo stated that his visit was also intended for consultation amid the turbulent global geopolitical situation.

This was conveyed by Prabowo during a bilateral meeting with Putin at the Kremlin Palace, as seen in a YouTube broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat on Monday (13/4/2026). Prabowo said that the current global geopolitical situation is changing very rapidly.

“Then, Your Majesty, I also came for consultation because the global geopolitical situation is experiencing developments and changes that are very rapid,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo assessed that Russia has a quite important role in global geopolitics. Therefore, Indonesia, continued Prabowo, needs to exchange views with Russia.

“We view that Russia has played a very positive role in facing this uncertain geopolitical condition,” he said.

Furthermore, Prabowo emphasised the need for both countries to enhance cooperation in the fields of energy and economy amid these global geopolitical challenges.

“Therefore, we feel it is very necessary to consult on how we face the future situation and, if possible, continue to strengthen cooperation, especially in the economic and energy sectors,” stated Prabowo.
