Meeting Prabowo at the Palace, JK Ready to Build Large-Scale Hydro and Gas Power Plants
President Prabowo Subianto received former Vice President Jusuf Kalla at the State Palace on Thursday (11/6/2026). Kalla was accompanied by his son Solihin Kalla and welcomed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Upon entering the palace, Prabowo immediately invited both to a roundtable discussion. The meeting concluded at 15.27 WIB, after which Jusuf Kalla, Solihin Kalla, and State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi delivered a press statement. "We had a long discussion with the president, also accompanied by the State Secretary and Cabinet Secretary," said Jusuf Kalla. Kalla stated that the discussion focused on enhancing Indonesia’s energy capacity and plans for energy self-sufficiency. "We have already built 1,500 megawatts of hydroelectric power, and we are ready to build an additional 2,000 megawatts, including gas-fired power plants," he said. According to Kalla, achieving economic growth of 5 to 8 per cent requires an extraordinary amount of energy. "Without energy, it is difficult to boost that. Therefore, the president agrees that we should immediately build national energy, particularly green energy, to become a part of national development in support of the economic growth target of up to 8 per cent as stated by the president," Kalla added. During the meeting, Jusuf Kalla also discussed peace issues with the president, specifically matters occurring in Thailand, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
