Meeting OJK and New IDX Directors, Dasco Calls for Strengthening Stock Exchange Governance
Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, received officials from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the new board of directors of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) to discuss strengthening capital market governance. During the meeting, Dasco stressed the importance of supervision and integrity reform to make the exchange more credible and competitive.
Dasco stated that the coordination was carried out to ensure improvements in governance within the capital market environment run more optimally. “This afternoon we received a visit from the Financial Services Authority and the new management or directors of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. We have just coordinated and then had a lengthy discussion on how the new OJK and the new IDX directors can improve the governance of the exchange for the better in the future,” Dasco said at the parliament complex in Senayan on Thursday (18/6/2026).
According to him, the DPR also requested that the supervision carried out by the OJK be strengthened to produce better governance. “For that reason, we have conveyed to the OJK that supervision should also be better in the future, and we have reached several new agreements and found common ground for better exchange governance going forward,” Dasco stated.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Friderica Widyasari Dewi, conveyed that the OJK had appointed seven new directors of the IDX following a selection process. “As he mentioned earlier, we have coordinated, and we also took this very good opportunity to convey that the Financial Services Authority has selected seven directors of the Indonesia Stock Exchange from four packages that applied to the OJK,” Friderica said.
She explained that there were 28 candidates who underwent a fit and proper test before seven directors were ultimately chosen to fill each respective field. Friderica emphasised that the OJK requested the new board of directors to commit to maintaining the sustainability of integrity reform in the capital market.
“And we hope for all of this, and we also ask them to commit to giving their best for the development of the stock exchange in the future, prioritising governance and continuing integrity reform in the capital market,” she stated.
Meanwhile, IDX President Director for the 2026–2030 period, Jeffrey Hendrik, said the new board of directors would continue the reform agenda that has been underway over the past few months. “We, the board of directors of the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2026-2030 period, will first continue the capital market reforms that we have been carrying out over the past four months, and also our commitment to continuously improve transparency, integrity, and governance at the Indonesia Stock Exchange,” Jeffrey said.
In addition, the IDX will also focus on deepening the market from both the demand and supply sides to increase the national capital market’s competitiveness. “So that in the future, the potential for the Indonesia Stock Exchange to become a world-class exchange on par with major exchanges globally can be realised soon,” he said.
