Meeting Macron, Prabowo Welcomed by Honour Guard at the Élysée Palace

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto arrived in France to meet President Emmanuel Macron and was welcomed by an honour guard at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Monday (14/4/2026) local time. According to a statement from the Press, Media, and Information Bureau (BPMI) of the Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday (15/4/2026), this welcome is part of the highest symbolic military honour for a state visit. The two leaders shook hands and had a brief conversation before proceeding to the main agenda. President Prabowo and President Macron then proceeded to the Salon des Portraits room for a tête-à-tête meeting. The agenda continued with an official lunch, which is part of high-level diplomacy to strengthen personal relations between the leaders and bolster the foundation of partnership between the two countries. This visit is an important part of President Prabowo’s series of diplomatic engagements following his previous intensive meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. Through these series of meetings, Indonesia continues to affirm its role as an active strategic partner in promoting international cooperation, global stability, and world peace.
