Semarang (ANTARA) - Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono reported on the progress of the national agriculture sector to former President Joko Widodo during a visit to his residence in Solo, Central Java. Speaking in Solo on Saturday, Sudaryono said the meeting discussed developments in the national agriculture sector and the importance of continuity in development to maintain food security and societal welfare. “I also reported to Mr Jokowi that we have achieved self-sufficiency in 2025 and will continue it,” he said. He stated that this success is marked by the halt of rice imports and improved farmer welfare. The government, he continued, has also raised the paddy price to Rp6,500 per kilogram to provide better economic value for farmers. According to Sudaryono, irrigation support and the purchase of harvests at good prices further strengthen farmers’ optimism in increasing national food production. He assessed that Jokowi’s experience and views remain important as a foundation for implementing development programmes, especially in the food sector. Sudaryono also emphasised the importance of maintaining synergy and government continuity so that various development programmes can run optimally and provide real benefits to the wider community.
