Meeting Iranian Ambassador, Jokowi Wishes Victory for Iranian People

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, met with Indonesia’s seventh President, Joko Widodo, in the city of Solo (Surakarta) on Wednesday (1/4/2026). The meeting discussed regional developments, including the latest situation resulting from the war described as “imposed” on Iran.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on the humanitarian and economic impacts arising from the conflict. Ambassador Boroujerdi presented a comprehensive report on the conditions in the field.

He explained the presence of attacks on civilian areas, vital infrastructure, and economic facilities in Iran, which were deemed to have serious impacts on humanitarian and security aspects.

On that occasion, Boroujerdi also emphasised that the Iranian people have a legitimate right to defend themselves in accordance with international law.

“The legitimate right of the Iranian people to defend themselves in accordance with international law,” he said in a press release received on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

Meanwhile, Jokowi conveyed his sympathy to the Iranian people for the situation they are facing. He also expressed support for the steadfastness of the Iranian government and people in maintaining their national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.

Jokowi further expressed hopes that the Iranian people be granted health, victory, and prosperity, and that peace and stability soon return to the region.

At the end of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed the long-standing friendly relations between Iran and Indonesia. They also emphasised the importance of continuing dialogue, strengthening bilateral cooperation, and expanding relations between the societies of both countries.
