Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, met with former Muhammadiyah Chairman Din Syamsuddin at his residence in South Jakarta. During the meeting, Boroujerdi called for an anti-war campaign against the United States and Iran.

“It is essential for the Muslim ummah to unite in order to collectively confront the attacks and wars launched by Zionists and, together with America,” said Mohammad Boroujerdi at the location on Friday (3/4/2026).

Boroujerdi also expressed appreciation to the Indonesian government for its stance in responding to the conflict, including its readiness to bridge peace.

“And here, I also extend my utmost appreciation and thanks to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, which, following the US-Israel war against Iran, has shown willingness and readiness, stating its availability to mediate for the realisation of peace, to act as a facilitator in achieving peace in the region,” he explained.

Boroujerdi also appreciated Din Syamsuddin’s efforts in promoting global peace. He mentioned that there is pressure from various parties to form a movement or alliance for an anti-war campaign against Iran.

“And many friends are urging us to create an anti-war campaign against Iran. Therefore, this could perhaps serve as a moment. If approved, it might lead to the formation of an alliance or association, whose core purpose is to oppose war against Iran or other countries,” he stated.

He said the US-Iran conflict has had widespread impacts on various countries. He also touched on the war’s effects on Indonesia.

“However, what we must regret and question is who is actually causing this impact, the root causes. Of course, we all see that it is America and Israel who started the war. Therefore, they are the ones who should be responsible for the impacts occurring in the world, including in Indonesia,” he clarified.

“We must also be wise in distinguishing between victims and the causes of the war. Do not let them be confused, with the perpetrators becoming victims and victims becoming perpetrators,” he added.

Meanwhile, Din Syamsuddin called on Muslims in Indonesia to maintain unity. Din also reminded the public not to be provoked by global conflicts.

“Therefore, once again, on behalf of Islamic organisations, we call for the unity of the Muslim ummah, both government and society. We hope that the calamity that has befallen the people of Iran, as a fellow Muslim nation that we also feel as our own calamity, will soon pass,” he said.

“And Iran, the Iranian nation, the Muslims in Iran, rise continuously together to revive Islamic civilisation. Because Iranian Muslims, in the course of history, have played a role and contributed to developing and advancing Islamic civilisation in the medieval centuries,” he added.

The meeting was also attended by several figures, including MUI Advisory Council Deputy Chairman Muhyiddin Junaidi and Chairwoman of Wanita Islam Marfua Mustofa, as well as other religious figures.
