Meeting 12 Global Investors in the US, Prabowo Declares: Indonesia Is No Longer a Sleeping Giant
President Prabowo Subianto received 12 heads of global investment firms in a meeting held as part of his working visit to Washington DC, United States, on Friday, 20 February 2026, local time.
The investors comprised CEOs and presidents of leading global investment companies with combined assets under management totalling approximately US$16 trillion (around Rp270 quadrillion).
Speaking before the 12 senior executives of major global firms, Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia is no longer a “sleeping giant” but has awoken to collectively develop and strengthen the national economy.
“The President conveyed at the outset that Indonesia has perhaps long been known as a sleeping giant, but we’re not sleeping anymore — now is the time for us to rise and together develop and enhance Indonesia’s economy,” said Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries, who also serves as CEO of BPI Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, following the meeting.
Rosan said the investors in attendance expressed appreciation and praised the policies implemented by the Prabowo administration. These policies were seen as elevating Indonesia’s standing and making it an increasingly significant player on the global investment map.
“They also expressed praise for the President’s policies that have been carried out to date, which have made them now see Indonesia as bigger,” he said.
Meanwhile, Danantara Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir noted that the global investors specifically commended President Prabowo’s commitment to strengthening the legal system and regulatory certainty as the primary foundation for long-term investment.
They also expressed appreciation for the establishment of BPI Danantara, initiated by Prabowo. The investors considered Danantara a potential strategic partner, given their extensive experience in partnering with various sovereign wealth funds around the world.
“So, perhaps as a summary, their desire is to now begin investing through partnerships and to use Danantara as one of their prospective partners for investment,” said Pandu.
During the meeting, President Prabowo outlined the direction of national economic policy, steps to strengthen the investment climate, and the government’s commitment to maintaining stability and legal certainty. The dialogue then continued with one-on-one sessions with each company head to discuss further cooperation opportunities.
