Medvedev: Strait of Hormuz is like a 'nuclear weapon' for Iran
Moscow (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has said that the Strait of Hormuz has become a ‘weapon’ for Iran with power equivalent to a ‘nuclear weapon’, while the country also has a ‘thermonuclear weapon’ in reserve, namely the Bab al-Mandab Strait. “Iran has found another weapon, which is no less powerful than a nuclear weapon, namely the Strait of Hormuz with its complex international status. I think Iran has not only this nuclear weapon in reserve, but also a thermonuclear weapon, the Bab al-Mandab Strait,” Medvedev said. The Bab al-Mandab Strait could create a situation where all oil shipments are halted and all countries provoking conflict in the Middle East need to remember this, he continued. Medvedev was in Iran on Friday (3/7) to attend the funeral procession of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
