Medina Strengthens Pedestrian and Cyclist-Friendly Infrastructure
The Medina Provincial Government continues to commit to improving the quality of life for local residents. The region, which is home to the holy city of Medina al-Munawwarah, is experiencing continued development through various public space programmes.
As reported by Arab News on Monday, 9 March 2026, the Medina Regional Development Authority is not merely constructing infrastructure to facilitate citizens’ activities; it is also encouraging residents to adopt active and healthy lifestyles. This effort is being implemented by creating public spaces that are pedestrian and cyclist-friendly.
The Medina Provincial Authority is also developing pedestrian pathways designed to encourage mobility and physical activity among residents. This initiative is expected to foster healthier living patterns, not only for residents but also to ensure comfort for visitors to the holy city of Medina al-Munawwarah.
Among the facilities being constructed are well-organised walking paths, safe cycling lanes, dedicated bicycle stations, and barefoot walking areas. These diverse facilities provide a wider range of physical activity options for both residents and tourists in the city.
